Because of my profession (you know) I have seen thousands of masks of all kinds and I can say that this is the best mask I have ever seen!!

I think the purpose of the mask was to place a barrier between the doctor and the plague victim. Transfer of the plague from person to person was by fleas, which was not known to the people of the time of the plague. The bird beak was to contain a ‘nosegay’ to give the doctor something else to smell than the plague victim. The ‘beak’ had flowers, or incense or some other smoldering plant so the doctor smelled something other than plague victims…this is why sometimes a plague mask will have smoke coming from it…
and no, not a functional gas mask…..unless you are with someone who likes beans.
The plague dr. also carried a cane or stick, to move aside clothing, etc, without touching the plague victim.

In reply to @MxPhoenix. Hi MxPhoenix, if you are looking for a gas mask to survive an attack, this mask will not help you, it has no filters. It's just a decorative mask, for costumes :)

Simply amazing. Very happy with the quality of this mask. I work in the film industry and it exceeded all expectations. I’ll come back for more.
